Mentor Teacher of the month

Mrs. Meredith McMackins, a second grade teacher at Finley Elementary School, was recently named Mentor Teacher of The Month by theThe University of Memphis.

The University of Memphis Residency program is a year-long placement that serves as clinical experience for students working to obtain a degree in Education. Natalie Pleasant is a University of Memphis Residency student in the second grade classroom of Meredith McMackins at Finley Elementary. As a mentor teacher, one of the primary responsibilities is to work collaboratively with the Residency student to plan, deliver, and assess instruction using the co-teaching model. Mrs. Pam McCarty, University of Memphis Lambuth campus Residency Supervisor, nominated Meredith for the Mentor Teacher of the Month award for exceeding expectations. A committee from the University of Memphis College of Education selected Meredith as the recipient of the award from more than 100 candidates. 

Mrs. Meredith is an incredible asset to the Dyer County School System and we are so proud of her!
